Attending International Annual Gatherings & travelling with SIGHT

For those interested in attending major international Mensa events, the following will help you gain more insight into these events.

View the US AG presentation list and schedule by downloading the US AG App. Search for this app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, by searching for "Mensa AG" or "Mensa Annual Gathering 2023". The 2024 US AG will be held in Kansas City. US AGs are always at the beginning of July, on the week of American Independence Day.

- I think that young adult Aussie Mensans would really enjoy the Bali AMG, based on what I saw in the Seoul AMG. I think that the majority of Mensans in Bali will likely be age 20-40 and it should be a lot of fun.

- The Australian Mensa Conference (AMC) was held in Launceston 11-13 November 2022.

  - There is a separate stream for Mensa children at AMC's. This year, there must have been 30-40 Mensa children there.
  - At the AMC, the National executive (NatCom) met for most of 11th November. Apparently, any Mensa member can attend most of the NatCom meeting. It would be useful for NatCom agenda items were circulated to members before the meeting - to help encourage Mensa members to view the NatCom deliberations.

- 2023 US Mensa AG in Baltimore 5-9 July 2023 - the 2022 US Annual gathering in Reno, Nevada was a great experience with about 1200 attendees - a great opportunity to meet many interesting people.

    - In the 5.July.2022 Colloquium, I was shocked by Rianne van de Ven's (Holland https://riannevdven.nl/english/ ) presentation in which she identified that between 40%-70% of gifted people are failing to live up to their potential. This is a massively under-utilised resource for our society - what a waste! And it is also sad and unfortunate that so many highly gifted people struggle to cope well in our society. It seems that the Mensa Foundation is thinking about how to improve this situation.
      - Note: Clearly a way to offset Australia's Brain Drain, is to develop the potential of more of our gifted people.
    - During the Colloquium it also became clear to me that the Mensa Foundation is thinking about the problem - How can gifted people in our society make a bigger contribution to the benefit of mankind and our society.
